UV Treatment Solutions for Life Sciences

Life Sciences covers several branches of science, such as biology, medicine, even dialysis which deal with living organisms and their organization, life processes, and relationships to each other and their environment. UV technology represents a powerful technology that has been successfully deployed in the Life Sciences industries for several decades. While the most common application for UV radiation in water treatment is disinfection, the technology can also be utilized in TOC reduction, ozone destruction, and chlorine/chloramine destruction.

Models available for this application:

All USP Purified Water and Water-For-Injection (WFI) system designs start with serious concern given to the validation process. Aquafine is rich in engineering talent and experience. Whether pharmaceutical and biotech companies use outside engineering firms or in-house project engineers to design the system, a major consideration is given to vendors whose equipment is easily validated, along with technical support provided with the process.

With the largest installed base of applications in the Life Sciences industry under USP 29 in USP and WFI (applications, Aquafine UV systems reflect the commitment to provide superior quality and the latest in UV technology by providing a variety of design features that meet the stringent criteria of the cGMP and full acceptance by the FDA. One such feature involves minimizing the length of the drain piping, thereby eliminating dead-legs. Optional high-grade finishes superior to RA15 are available and our sanitary connections conform to the USDA 3A standard.

Every Aquafine UV monitoring system can be field calibrated and elastomers are able to withstand hot water sanitization to 194°F (90°C) for 4 hours, or steam sterilization according to standard operating procedures. Sample ports are standard on most models to further facilitate the validation process. All alarm points are easy to set and test. Lamps and quartz sleeves are easily replaced by one technician. Lamps can also be changed out online without breaking into the system. Still another important feature is how drain ports allow for full drainage of the system.

Real time consulting on process design considerations are available, such as the implications of United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) Monographs for purified water and WFI along with TOC, and new TOC limits. Experience within the Life Sciences UV market makes Aquafine well-suited to assist with application requirements. Aquafine can also provide on-site technical field support during equipment startup and service well after the sale.
